This week is flying by! Tonight is our last official home study visit from our DCFS license worker. I think we're ready, it's been an expensive week as we've finished up some modifications to our house, and we still don't have baby furniture! I've decided that I really don't want used furniture, so we've been doing some shopping but haven't picked anything out yet.
I did decide that the theme of the nursery will be video games. I just can't stomach anything Disney. I'm keeping my eyes out for Super Mario stuff, but I'll probably end up making most of it.
My Mom tells me that they've got some flooding where she lives. Fortunately her house is pretty dry (I'm glad living on a big hill has finally come in handy after walking up the hill from the bus stop for many years), so it's just a matter of being able to get where she needs to go for work and stuff. Sounds pretty messy to me.
Things are going great otherwise! I'm hoping to spend a little time in my darkroom this weekend to make some more contact prints for the Russian's dad.
Also, if you're local and know of someone who needs a chest freezer, let me know. We have an older one to get rid of (no 2 people should ever need 3 deep freezers, but that's what we've got!) and I'd like to see it disappear by the weekend if possible.
Have a great weekend!
Have a happy lil St Patty's!
It's been a really weird week at work.
That is all.
For those of you not on the mailing list, Carl's mom is doing really well. I think she may get to go home tomorrow sometime. Thank you so much for your prayers for her surgery and recovery!
Nothing else going on, much. We're all tired, and I'm pretty sure the house is trashed but I haven't been there enough to tell for sure. I guess that's what weekends are for, right?
Lolla early bird tix are reported to be on sale sometime this week. Thus begins the internet camping. I hear that MGMT are mostly confirmed, and I'm really hoping for The Chemical Brothers, Architecture in Helsinki, Radiohead and Rage...however, I'll take what I can get and just be happy to go again. :)
We finally got registered for our last fostering class, and the very same day they called to tell us it was canceled due to a lack of enrollment; we've been moved to a class in May. I was disappointed for all of 5 seconds until I realized that we can't be licensed until it's over with and we really can use an extra couple of months right now. That should give us time to get Mama K well again and still have our house totally ready.
BTW, if you haven't heard NIN's Ghosts, get it now. Reznor totally delivers on this one. DL for now or wait for the hard copy release in April. Just get it.
