Well, we DID get the baby from DCFS. He was born 2 months premature, and weighs just 4 pounds 12 ounces. We're having great fun comparing him to regular household items to see which is bigger...the laptop or the baby? (the laptop)
Which is bigger? A gallon of water or the baby (the water)
Which is bigger? Carl's shoe or the baby? (debatable, heehee!)
Anyway, things have changed for us in a major way, of course. We're still adjusting but things are going well. The Russian's Mom and Dad are going to watch him for us for awhile during work hours, for which I don't even know how to thank them. He's too little to go to daycare, and I'll feel better just knowing that family can keep him close for us. My Mom and I have been going crazy buying stuff to make life a little easier, and he has a wardrobe to rival Lindsay Lohan, I think. However, the greatest thing is that yesterday when we found out we got him, one of my coworkers went out and bought us all kinds of things we didn't know we'd need. I could not believe it when she walked into my office with 3 huge bags of stuff from Babies R Us. I'll never forget that.
I can't remember if I mentioned that our dishwasher had a recall, so we haven't been able to use it, which means that we're sterilizing bottles and baby equipment the "old fashioned way".
Well, diaper duty calls :)
