A Promotion of Sorts

So yesterday I was officially declared to be the account manager of one of our biggest customers. 2nd biggest, I guess, although the actual biggest hasn't come up on our software yet. So I suppose, technically, it's the biggest for now. Anyway. I don't think there's any money involved, but that's ok. It's a little bit of job security.

In other very important news, we beat WarioWare last night. I think we've finally unlocked all of the levels, yay! I'll probably still buy it at a later date, but right now I'm moving on to the next game. I need to find out when My Word Coach is coming out. Next on the list for me is Elebits, and then Mercury Meltdown Revolution when it comes out.

Headed to So IL for the weekend.

Merry Christmas! :)

Well, it IS Christmas in July...and it should be a holiday even if it's not recognized by the rest of the free world. Our celebration here was a little scaled back. Mostly I just watched QVC's Christmas special tonight. It's always weird when CIJ falls during the middle of the week.

No Wii playing tonight. Well, not much anyway. ;) I finally figured out the umbrella game in WarioWare, so I should beat another level tomorrow.

Family Guy's on, off I go.

Why Wario is the Debbil

This game is so addictive. I keep saying "one more level and then I'm done. When I beat this one I'm stopping", and then I go on for 2 or 3 more. Right now Carl is playing it, and I'm going to have a hard time getting the remote back from him, I think. Definitely going on the to buy list. It's basically made up of little 5 second micro-games, they're pretty easy but can be tricky if you don't hold the remote just right. And they start to go a little faster, and then a lot faster, and you end up doing so many hilarious things with the wiimote (like picking someone's nose) that sometimes I just have to stop and laugh for a minute.

And now I have the stupid song stuck in my head.

Had a mostly quiet day at work, the big boss is back this week, I just try to stay out of the way for the most part. Headed to my mom's this weekend, I'm not sure what we're doing yet. We're signed up for a serger class in August, we probably need to go pick out the materials for that.

Christmas in July is tomorrow. I can't believe it's here already...just 5 more months until the Big Day. QVC is, of course, having their annual Christmas sale today and tomorrow. I haven't seen any of it this year, but will probably watch some either later tonight or tomorrow. I haven't heard of any must-have items yet.

I have successfully corrupted 3 more people into buying Wiis this week. Heh.

Yeah, I know it's just a video game.

Another weekend down, Christmas in July is in *2* days!!!

Still am undecided on what we're doing for that, it's not supposed to be terribly warm this week. We had the windows open for most of the weekend, it was beautiful. I did NOT spend the majority of my time playing the Wii, either. :P

However, I DID take a paper piecing class on Saturday. It was ok, not something I want to spend a lot of time doing, tho. I'll probably finish the project I started and then let it be. Sometimes it's good to just know that I know how to do something, y'know? :)

The Russian continues to make progress on his Unisaw. Right now it's sitting in the family room. I am not amused. I'm supposed to admire it before it makes its way over to Mechanic Dave's house for a coat of House of Color purple (hey, that's what I'M pushing for!).

My sports score continues to improve, I think it's the tennis that's helping more than anything. I still can't hit the damn baseball. When I do it's a foul. We were at Toys R Us yesterday when they opened, there were a few people in line for Wiis, but nothing like I expected. I'm hoping that everybody that wants one has it now, because I'm afraid they're not going to be available this fall, and there'll be some crazy stunt on Black Friday...which will totally mess with my plans. So, if you think you want one, GET IT NOW. Don't be in my way on BF, I'll just get Carl to mow ya down. ;)

I'm headed to the video store today for lunch to see what kind of Wii games they've got in stock. I want to try out King Kong, Wario Ware (I fully admit that this is only because the package is pink), Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and for some reason I'm thinking Cooking Mama is going to be interesting. My luck they won't have any of those, but we'll see. Maybe all the people who got their consoles this weekend are still playing Sports.

Saturday, in the park

Wasn't on the 4th of July.

Anyway, I completely forgot that I have a paper piecing class this afternoon, so I didn't get to go to Carl's auction today. That's ok, I have plenty to keep me busy. So far I've:

showered
gone to the farmer's market
put up 2 quarts of rhubarb
1 quart of blackberries (domestic, and man are they SOUR! BLEH!)
cleaned the kitchen
made bread
and now I'm at the library, looking up stuff for Carl so he'll know how much to bid. In a minute I'm going to hit the book sale here for Joshua in the hopes they have something I think he might like, and then I gotta get home to start packing up the sewing stuff for the class. And sometime today I need to clean out my closet. No Wii for me :( Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

While I was working in the kitchen this morning Vic was trying to get my attention and finally decided the best way to do that would be to try and jump up to my shoulders...except he missed and fell, and now somehow that's my fault. Both cats are pouting. Heh.

Easy to Learn, Difficult to Master

So I got a Wii yesterday.

Yeah, my productivity has kinda down a downward spiral since then. This has to be the most intuitive, easy to pick up, engaging game system I've ever played (not that I'm a hardcore gamer by any stretch of the imagination, but I've never been that interested in a system until now). The PS3 didn't really grab my attention, and the XBox seemed like just another console. Even Carl was playing this in the first 5 minutes, and we had a ball with it for almost 3 hours last night.

I wish I'd gotten one when they first came out, if you think you'll want one for Christmas, get it now. I've been stalking the poor employees at one of the local GameStops for a week or two now, they finally got some in and I almost flattened a coworker on my way out the door to the car. (sidenote, they don't have any left today, also, Nintendo reports that they've sold 9 million units, they're about to overtake the xbox.)Along with the console I got the Big Brain Academy (big hit), Bust A Move Bash (haven't played it yet), WiiPlay (huge hit) and an extra nunchuk. So far our favorite game has been this thing where you ride a cow on a track and knock down "scarecrows". I don't know when I've laughed so hard.

Anyway, if you don't hear from me for awhile don't worry, I'm just locked up in the sewing studio racing cows, or target practicing or something. :)

So my mom left this afternoon and I promptly took a nap. We hit 4 open houses today but nothing real promising. 3 in one neighborhood, one was nicer than the others but the street it's on is too busy. She's decided she'd like to live in Hunting Meadows, she really liked that neighborhood.

Pretty quiet around here tonight, we went to Cinco De Mayo for supper, I don't know why but we never think to go there. They have the best salsa...I bought some in a cup to bring home, lol. It really IS good!

Kenny got stuck in the family room sofa this afternoon. Somehow he got in through the bottom, and my mom was practically sitting on him. Poor guy, I could see him moving in the arm of the sofa, but couldn't get him to come out. We ended up turning the sofa on its back but he still wouldn't come out. Mom and I finally left to go house hunting and Carl said he came out while we were gone. I figured he would, but I also thought that offering him some salmon would entice him out. Apparently he's not as food-motivated as I thought he was. Unfortunately he is also afraid of his own shadow, even though he's the bigger of the two kitties.

Oh, and I have jewels on my toes. :) (part of the flowers I had painted on yesterday) I'm going to see how long they stay on. It's probably something I'd only do during the summer.

I got nothing done with fleece this weekend, so now I'm behind on cutting out hats and scarves. I'll have to catch up this week. Still hoping Joanns has 50% off notions soon, I need to finish filling up a box to go to Iraq. Speaking of which, I need to hit the post office in the morning.

Still looking for a Wii. :(

Now This Is The Life

Started out at an accounting seminar this morning. Then went to lunch, then for a haircut. That was supposed to be it until my mom decided we needed manicures/pedicures...so here I am. (free wifi, woohoo!) And not just any pedicure...I'm getting flowers painted on! :)
I think I need someone to drive us home...

Sung to the tune of Spam

Bored Bored Bored Bored

Bored Bored Bored Bored

Ok, you get the picture.

My mom is here, but she went to bed early, as soon as we got back from Meijers. She said something about getting up at a ridiculous hour to go to the farmer's market and shop for earrings. Ugh.

c4pda is back up, so my world is a little happier now. I had to hard reset my T|X a week or two ago and things hadn't been quite right since then. I'm just about to be back to normal.

The salt fish shop on my way to work went out of business recently, I learned this week. I guess I'm just not very observant, I didn't even know until I pulled into the parking lot one night to see if they'd gotten in some snails. I can't say I'm completely surprised by this turn of events, they never had anything that I needed, but for some reason had lots of bird stuff. I didn't know there were that many bird people around here. Anyway, I'll miss them if only because they were a fun distraction on my way home from work lots of nights. I'm not sure where I'll be buying my saltwater supplies from now on, there's only one other salt store in town and the last time I was in there I wasn't terribly impressed (they refused to sell me a hang-on-tank heater...said I'd have too much salt creep and had to go with a suction cup one. I tried explaining that the suction cups don't work well for me, but whatever. I ended up buying the heater I wanted at Meijers). Maybe their help is a little more helpful nowadays, who knows. It's been almost a year since I was in there.

Of course, I really just want Ray to get back into the salt biz. I wouldn't care if he was in the ghetto, I'd still go visit him. He always would order cool stuff when I needed it.

Time to put the kitties to bed. :)

Friday the 13th sucks

Everything is wrong in my little world today. It's Friday the 13th, c4pda is down, I'm having withdrawals. Fleo forgot the lotto tickets, my back hurts from bowling 6 games in one hour last night, and I forgot to pick up breakfast on my way in.

Also, tomorrow I have to sit through a 3 hour not-for-profit accounting lecture, and I've been informed that it would be rude of me to watch a movie on my laptop during it. And did I mention that c4pda is down? :( Woe be me.

My highest score last night was a 159, on my 5th game. My goal is to bowl twice a week and try to get a solid average over 120. (my worst game last night was a 79). However, I am no longer the worst bowler on the planet, because the girl 2 lanes over was consistently bowling in the 50s. Yay me! LOL (those of you who know me know that there is not one competitive bone in my body. I mostly just like throwing the ball, and any pins it happens to hit are just a bonus)

In other bowling news, when I took my shoes out of the bag they disintegrated, so I had to toss them. I'm now on the lookout for The World's Most Obnoxious Bowling Shoes. I'm thinking something with every color and some metallics would be nice. My ball is kind of boring, so I need some snazzy shoes, yes? :)

We're hoping to hit some open houses on Sunday with my mom. She's finally decided to get the h out of the burg. Thank goodness. It's just too depressing and the only smalltown feel that's left to it is that everybody knows everybody else's business. We have more to do with our neighbors in Springfield than she does in a town of less than 9500.

Ok, enough ranting for one day. Off to find a Wii (again)!

The Things I Want

So I've been trying to find a Nintendo Wii for the last couple of weeks, and like everybody else who doesn't have one, I'm calling CC and BB every day or so to find out if they have them. I started thinking about other little things I want, and came up with a list.

1. The Wii, of course. With Wii-Fit, DDR and BBA at the least.
2. I've been thinking about a DS lite in the meantime. It has more games and is portable, but I already have a pda with games on it. The upside is that I'm pretty good with handwriting recognition software already.
3. A backup T|X. Yes, I realize this is ludicrous, but I really REALLY like the one I have, and I'm afraid something bad will happen to it. Amazon has them for $266 now, they've come down a little since I got mine 20 months ago, or so. Hard to believe I've had it that long already.
4. A phone with real bluetooth. Actually, I just want Verizon to enable it on my existing phone. They sucketh.
5. As long as we're dreaming, let's go back to the T|X. I would like for them to add a vibrating alarm, fm and xm receiver and a usb printer. That should do it :)
6. And as long as I'm absolutely insane, I'll say that a Designer SE would be just faboo. I'm liking the built-in wifi and the mouse idea.

I think that's it for the gadgets. Do I need any of those? Of course not...but that's not what this is about. A lot of the stuff I really want nowadays isn't being made yet, but I'm hopeful. And I WILL get my hands on a Wii, one way or another. I'm just sayin', if you happen to see me at Best Buy and I look determined, get out of the way. ;)

Let's see...otherwise, I haven't accomplished a whole lot this week. Shipped 2 boxes of fabric to the chaplain on Monday, I need to get a box of notions and other stuff together by tomorrow...maybe I'll hit Hancocks at lunch today. Borders is in the same mall, I could pick up comic books for Joshua.

Need to cut out some more hats and scarves tonight...48 just isn't going to get it. I need at least 150 more sets by the first of September. What I really need is for Joanns to come out with some appropriate prints for little kids, that are small enough to fit the scarves.

My mom is coming to town this weekend, we're going to an accounting seminar on Saturday. Whee. I'm planning on taking the laptop and a couple of games to keep from being 100% bored. We'll see.

That is all. It's a crummy week to be me.

It's snowing fleece!

I spent pretty much the entire weekend in the sewing room. Finished ma little apron (it's cute, very kitschy), made another postcard (this one with sequins!) and...started cutting out hats and scarves. I think I'm up to 4 dozen, not nearly enough, but a decent start.

I have 7 or 8 more lengths of fleece to cut, I need to have 100 sets cut out by the end of this month, then another 100 for August, and we'll start sewing in September.

In other news, I've been in contact with a Chaplain in Iraq that's working with women there, teaching them to sew. They're learning a trade that can help support their families, and he needs sewing supplies. It didn't take very long to come up with 2 flat rate boxes so stuffed full of fabric I had trouble getting them closed. I'm planning on sending a box every couple of weeks, and will send out another box later this week full of thread, scissors and notions. If any of you have items to send, just let me know and I can get them to him.

That's it for Monday :)

Red is bad, right?

Sunburned, am I. Drove the little Jeep, sans top, to southern IL this afternoon. I have a seatbelt tan. Ha!

Gary's party at Cindy's went off great last night. I think everybody had a good time, and now he's had the proper sendoff. I think we're all thinking Robert will be next, but I'm secretly hoping I'm the next retiree (but not by force, obviously) ;)

Going shopping in Carbondale tomorrow, then back home on Tuesday.

Ok, going to soak my arms in ice water or something.
