Good Stuff

Now you all know I try to keep politics out of this blog (although there are certain days when it's harder than others), but this was too good to pass up. Whether or not you're "for" the war in Iraq, you can't deny that the following list is full of Good Things. Yes, there are also casualties and people dying. It's a war. Every war has a price. But when I'm writing to our adopted soldier Josh, I keep in mind that he's there because he believes that we're all worth it...the price is worth it (and he's not the only soldier that believes that). We can all support our troops in lots of ways (and I'm not talking about the yellow ribbon on your car): write supportive and encouraging letters, send cards, send blank cards for them to send back to their loved ones here, send candy, snacks, socks, send something. Most of all, send them your prayers, tell them that you're behind them and give them a chance to respond and tell you more of the good things your hard-earned money is doing over there. You and I both know that the media doesn't spend enough time on the positive...so let's give our soldiers a chance to be that voice. They can't talk to you if they don't know you're listening.

If you want to know how to find a soldier to write to, shoot me an email and I'll hook ya up. We have a responsibility to these men and women, to not let them down, and our support means more to them than any of us will ever know.

Saturday

Well, last night wasn't a total bust. I have pink hair again! Woot!

Gonna do a little shopping today. Kate Spade, here I come. I'm feeling a matching wallet coming on, too. :)

Gotta get Fat Kenny out from under the couch. I think he's stuck.

4/20

Stayed home from work today, sick.

Drove down to my mom's a little earlier, there's nothing going on in this town. Bored. Not even anything good at the movie. I guess we'll sit at her house and watch the cats chase each other. They howled quite a bit in the car, I think it's time for them to move to separate carriers (mostly because they weigh too much to be carried together anymore...my babies have grown up *sniffs*).

I managed to finish up 36 cool ties before I left, those are joining 84 more that the Russian is delivering to a girl at church Sunday morning.

For a good time, look up what Sharon Osbourne said about the guy from the Queens of the Stoneage's comments regarding Ozzfest. Ha! That's a real classy broad, there...

Happy holiday! ;)

The Moon & Antarctica

Had to run down to the library at Chatham, decided to tote the laptop along to finish some dl'ing. Not sure what supper will be. Last night was feta/turkey omelets (surprisingly yummy), but I can't decide what I feel like last night.

Headed to Harrisburg this weekend. I think my mom has the weekend planned for me to help her with a bunch of stuff. Oh well, new purse in it for me, so I'll go along. =)

Really hazy out, but cool. I'm ready for a little bit warmer weather now (but not sweltering). I'd like to take the little Jeep down to mom's, but I think it's supposed to be a little chilly for that. And I still need a new stereo *hint*hint*

Listening to: Modest Mouse - Float On
Reading: Bloody Williamson, having just finished Murder in Little Egypt

Bored

Another survey. What can I say? The Russian is doing professional hours for his PE license today (2 classes, but at least they're both local this time) and I'm bored with no emails from him (sorry y'all...).

1) Are you an Aunt/Uncle?
no. Not likely to be either, seeing as how I'm an only child, married to an only child.

2) Can you do a cartwheel?
Not without crashing into something or someone.

3) What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
Aqua Teen Hunger Force

4) Do you eat vegetables regularly?
Yep. I love 'em!

5) If you were going to get a body piercing, where would you get it?
BTDT. If I was going to get another one I'd probably either get my tongue done again, or maybe my eyebrow, but that seems really overdone nowadays. I keep thinking I'd like to get either an ear conch or daith, but the daith in particular looks painful. This isn't exactly something that's well-planned for me, tho. I'm more apt to be sitting at home one night and decide to get some work done that's not on this list.

6) Do you consider hanging out with someone of the opposite sex behind your significant others back cheating?
If it's doing something that I wouldn't want my SO to know about, it's probably cheating, or close to it.

7) What is the weather like right at this very moment?
sunny and 60f

8) What is something that you can't wait for?
Picking up my new Kate Spade bag this weekend. *bounces*

9) How many times have you been to Canada?
several

10) Have you ever had a reptile as a pet?
Not really, but once when I was in grade school I was helping my dad pick up the field, and we came upon a nest of snakes. I picked up a couple of them and put them in a 5 gallon bucket we had and played with them for a couple of hours. Had to turn them loose, tho. Now I hate snakes.

11) What is your favorite fruit?
all of them.
Seriously, I love fresh fruit...pineapple, grapes, strawberries, melons of all kinds, oranges, mangoes, POMEGRANATES, and all the weird things that the grocery store carries that I can't pronounce. However, I will say that I bought some horned fruit a couple of weeks ago, and it was just nasty. No more of that.

12) What song is on your profile right now?
Leaders of the Free - Elbow
listening to Amy Winehouse - Rehab...I can't help it, I *heart* this song.

13) Who was your last missed call on your cell phone?
my mom

14) Where are you most ticklish?
hrm. Dare I tell you? I think not.

15) How many hours a week do you normally work?
I'm normally AT work for 40 hours a week or so.

16) Who's your number 1?
Carl. Aka The Russian, Banana Hands, Evil Genius #2, Butthead, etc.

17) Do you have deep dark secrets?
Maybe the fact that I have them (or don't) IS my deep dark secret.
I'll never tell.

18) When was the last time you were sick?
I was sick for the last week of 2006 and all of January this year. Glad that's over.

19) What color is your car?
which one? The Honda is white, the little jeep is white, the big jeep is grayish-green, the toyota is tan, the truck is black, one cutlass is black and the other one is gold. I think that's everything. Oh, and a yellow dirt bike, and my bike is white with blue and pink graphics.

20) How many siblings do you have?
0

21) Have you ever gotten caught sneaking out?
not that I recall, but I did get caught sneaking back in.

22) Did you ever try running away from home when you were younger?
I'm sure I did, when I was 5.

23) What makes you the most happy?
acting goofy on a Saturday morning, when Monday is far, far away and it's just me and Carl driving around with the top down.
Ok, that seems shallow. #1 my relationship with God #2 family #3 see above.

24) When you see a child at the store throwing a tantrum, what do you think?
now THERE'S a kid who needs a shock collar.

25) Where do you want to be right now?
at home, sewing

26) Have you ever finished a Rubiks Cube?
once

27) What color is your cell phone?
silver and black

28) When was the last time you rode a bike?
last summer

29) Do you have any vacation plans for this summer?
we're goin' to LOLLA, baby! Otherwise, not yet. Maybe Cozumel in September/October, tho.

ATHF!

Pretty quiet weekend for us. Saw Aqua Teen Hunger Force Saturday night, cackled through the whole thing. Even mild fans should be entertained. However, I gotta say that I don't think the 3yo across the aisle got a whole lot out of it. I hafta wonder what his parents were thinking. He had a LOT of questions.

Bought 39 yards of cool tie fabric yesterday. Plus I finally found that silver ironing board fabric at Joanns! I had looked for it off and on, and apparently never looked in the "right place" (by the cross-stitch fabric on the bolt, which never would have occurred to me). I also picked up a couple skeins of yarn for a hat and scarf set for one of the Feitshans kids. I've already warned my mom, we're knitting this summer. So far I'm pretty disappointed with the fleece prints that have come out this year, so once I finish cool tie season (hopefully by the end of May), we can get started on the Feitshans project again, knitting-style. :) Yes, I should probably have my head examined, but I do not have the time. Too busy sewing :P

The Riches

Been watching The Riches marathon on FX. Probably qualifies for entertainment at its worst. The Russian is trying to figure out what's going on, and who is who.

We hit the APL sale tonight after work, nothing spectacular but it's always fun to play with the kitties.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to Staples and Office Max to shop for chairs. Looked at Sam's Club tonight but didn't find anything fabulous.

I need a nap

135 more cool ties going in tomorrow's mail. Another bolt or two this weekend should put me back in business shortly.

Went for a massage tonight, was pretty good. Then to Meijers, natch. Gotta go address tomorrow's outgoing box.

You know, you really need to eat Runts one flavor at a time. They're not so great all together.

Peanut Butter Jelly with a baseball bat!

Lolla lineup comes out tomorrow, hopefully by 11. Probably won't sleep much tonight. Booked our room at the Congress today. Thinking we'll take the train up instead of drive. By that time if gas is $3/gallon, it'll be cheaper to ride than drive.

Just in case you were wondering

about the best way to get to Paris from NYC,
--Go to Google.com
--Click on Maps.
--Click on get Directions.
--From New York, New York
--To Paris, France.
--And read line # 23.

120 cool ties going out in tomorrow's mail to a group up by Peoria that deploys on the 23rd. I got an invitation to see them off but I'm not sure I can. I have another 200 that will probably go out by the end of the week, and I'm not sure after that. Not to mention another box to Joshua tomorrow. My mailman loves me :) Gotta get it all out before postage goes up.

Random Q: anybody know what day of the week Knight's Action Park sets off fireworks for July 4th?

Gotta do sudoku and finish up another 19 cool ties, plus get boxes packed and addressed.

Lolla, cats and cool ties

Y'all are just sick. The overwhelming majority of emails yesterday indicate that you'd do a herpes ad just to make past partners wonder. Sick, I say.

So since the weather is just not cooperating right now (we still have freeze warnings at night) I'm getting a jump start on little jeep season and picking out the summer song. (You know, that song that's just right for driving around.)
Last year I listened to a lot of Light and Day (Polyphonic Spree), Morningwood and Darlin Niki (the Foo Fighters one). This year I'm hoping for Ultra Payloaded Satellite Party for one, but that's as far as I've gotten. Send me your ideas!

Counted up cool ties last night. We've done 470 so far, I'm thinking I'll get another bolt of fabric this weekend if I get all of these moved out before then. If you know somebody in the military that needs one, let me know and I'll hook 'em up.

Lolla Lineup in 2 days, can't get here fast enough. Fingers are crossed for Beck and Radiohead, but I don't think either one is supposed to be listed. Smashing Pumpkins were a hopeful, but Iha says no way to the reunion (not that he's an absolute necessity, but part of me wonders if it would be the same without him).

The kitties are fine, some of you asked (yep, somebody cares! ha!). Rotten as ever, Kenny is probably the fattest year old cat I've seen in awhile. He likes to lay on the floor in the studio on his back, waiting for someone to scratch his stomach. They're funny when they're fighting because they're so quiet...they'll be going at it, and the first time we'll know anything about it is when one of them crashes into something. Otherwise they just let out a little howl every now and then. They have this thing about liking to kick each other in the face. Alice still chases them, but they're less afraid of her now. I've got a photo of them on the table in the studio, I think they're even bigger now than when that was taken. Well, Kenny is, Vic is probably still the same size.

Salt tank is still empty, I'm debating on what to do with it next.

That is all.

Except, why is Nancy Pelosi not being tried for treason?

Okay, that's really all.

Updated Turkeyfest List

Apparently I missed some holidays, so here are some more:

turkey luther king day
Chinese new turkey day
groundturkeyhog day
ash turkeyday
valenturkey day
st paturkey's day
daylight turkey time
pass the turkey over
easturkey
april foolurkey's day
cinco de murkey
rosh hashurkey
yom kippurkey
columburkey day
veturkan's day

In other news, I want to know how much the actors in herpes medication ads actually get paid. I'm hoping it's a lot, and that they are all good investors.

Maybe just the satisfaction of making their past partners nervous is enough.

For some reason I keep expecting to see Randy Quaid in one of those commercials.

I forgot how much I like Keane. I've been listening to the same radio station for the last 2 hours without changing. Antipop radio on winamp. Who knew there was such a thing? And why didn't you tell me about it?!

Posted by tomiandc at 01:49 PM

Happy Monday

My PDA battery is almost dead. I think last night's backup must have tanked, will deal with that later since it will almost certainly require a hard reset. Stupid stupid stupid.

Speaking of stupid...after a discussion that it's a good thing we don't eat turkey for Easter, because the naps would just be longer (I had a 3 hour yesterday but that was mostly to catch up on sleep lost during the previous 2 nights), the Russian has declared that all holidays must now involve turkey in some form or fashion. FYI, the Kimble household will now be celebrating:

Happy New Turkey on January 1
Happy Valenturkey on February 14
Happy Paturkey Day on March 17
Happy Easturkey
Happy Memorial Turkey (the day where we remember all the turkeys we've eaten before)
Happy Flag Turkey (not sure what he has in mind for this one. Maybe we stick little flags all over the turkey before we roast it)
Happy Fourth of Turkey, where we stick sparklers in the turkey, and I'm almost positive there will be bottle rockets involved in some fashion. Use your imagination.
Happy Back to School Turkey
Happy Labor Turkey
Happy Halloturkey
Happy Turkey Day, the original
and last but certainly not least: Merry Christurkey

I have peeps, saving them up for the bonfire out back to see what happens. I'm guessing the sugar will flame right away, which is cool for me, because there's nothing like the taste of charcoal :)

This week will mostly consist of shopping for a new sewing studio chair and a new bag. It's too cold outside to do anything else. Why is it that I can handle subzero temps in January, but the minute it's 30 in April I start whining. It doesn't help that we were at 80F there for awhile and I got used to wearing sandals again. :(

Davis Caves is hosting their annual EarthFest April 28th. Hoping it's warmed up some by then and we can take the little jeep. There's a camper dealer on the way, must connive a way for us to stop by. They don't sell Airstreams, but they do have those funny little A-frames.

Have a good week

Have a great week!

Work Sucks

Heard Wish Upon a Dog Star (Satellite Party) last night on my way home on Ethel. Glad they've picked it up, still waiting for the cd release, May 15th.

My mom comes into town tonight. We're sewing tomorrow, hoping to get a bunch of cool ties done and ready to mail. I've done 242 so far, with another 40 in the closet I'd forgotten about that need to be filled and stitched, and probably another almost 200 that are in the midst of being serged now. The Russian says he'll shopvac-flip them tonight, so tomorrow maybe I can get someone else to press them for me :)

Work sucks.

Lolla lineup is announced in 6 days. Ozzfest is going to be Freefest this year, Carl says to see if I can get tickets. The problem here is that it's in STL on August, which means either we get up early the day after Lolla and drive from Chicago, or we go back to Chicago on the 10th for theirs. It will probably just depend on which one I can get tickets for, and more probably, whether I can get tickets at all. I can't figure out how this is going to work...the announcement is being made June 12th on what we're supposed to do, but I don't have much faith in their servers to handle the kind of traffic, and if it's anything like the Lolla souvenir ticket sale it'll be bad.

Still leaning towards the Congress for Lolla unless I get a compelling reason for staying elsewhere. It's close and not too pricey for what it is. House of Blues is another possibility, but I think it's further away and I'd really like to be as close as possible. I keep hoping that JP will have an apartment close by we could stay at. :) Right, Carl? :) :) :)

Did I mention work sucks?

Listening to: Ruby, the Kaiser Chiefs (btw, how is everyone liking Yours Truly, Angry Mob so far? I'm digging it with 2 shovels...even better than Employment)

Why I'm a Lollapaloser, Part 2

Bought our tickets to Grant Park today. August 3-5, woot!

So far it looks like Satellite Party is a definite for Friday night, Pearl Jam (YES!) for Sunday, Saturday is still in the air. We're probably staying at the Congress, but it's not definite yet.

Gotta work on cool ties tonight. Big sewing meeting on Saturday and I need to have another stack at least started by then.

Being summoned, rock on!

Just coz it's been awhile

Here ya go...the Monday survey:

1. Can you cook?
I think so

2. What was your dream growing up?
I used to have this dream that involved monkeys and tricycles.
Oh, you mean the other kind of dream? Uh, I wanted to move.

3. What talent do you wish you had?
Juggling. And that thing where you hold your lips together and move your index finger up and down over them. I can't do that at ALL. Seriously. Ask the Russian about it. He's tried.

4. Favorite place?
My sewing studio

5. Favorite vegetable?
tomatoes

6. What was the last book you read?
Finished? Scar Tissue, Anthony Kiedis. Currently working through The Earth Moved, Amy Steward and Godless, Ann Coulter.

7. What zodiac sign are u ?
virgo

8. Any Tattoos and/or Piercings?
No and Yes.
I want a tattoo, tho.

9. Worst Habit?
I bite my fingernails off and on.

11. What is your favorite sport?
sewing! haha! Ok, hockey.

12. Negative or Optimistic attitude?
optimistic, I think.

13. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
Depends on who you are :)

14. Worst thing to ever happen to you?
Losing my Dad

15. Tell me one weird fact about you:
I can touch my nose with my tongue.

16. Do have any pets?
yep

17. Do u know how to do the macerana?
yep, and no, I'm not going to do it the next time I see you.

18. What time is it where u are now?
10:26am

19. Do you think clowns are cute or scary?
cute mostly, unless they're in a horror movie.

20. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be???
My feet. I hate feet. Everyone's. Including yours.

21. Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?
I'd be your crime partner right up until we got arrested. And then I'd turn into the big ol' nasty conscience.

22. What color eyes do you have?
green mostly. They change sometimes

23. Ever been arrested?
for what? (no, mom)

24. Bottle or Draft?
neither. Beer is icky.
ha!

25. If you won $10,000 dollars today, what would you do with it?
buy a jet-ski or a new Hayabusa. And it wouldn't matter which, because I'm sure I'd crash either one in a similar amount of time.

26. What kind of bubble gum do you prefer to chew?
Hrm, good question. I've always been a super bubble fan, but lately their grape flavor has taken on a nasty chemical aftertaste (and that leads me to another good question: can bubble gum really have an aftertaste, and if so, when does it start?). Anyway, right now I have Extra watermelon in my desk, it's ok. Bazooka Joe is pretty good.

27. What 's your favorite bar to hang at?
Mowie's, and then the Curve, I suppose. In that order. You really need to go to Mowie's (or some other bar) before you can go to the Curve.

28. Do you believe in ghosts?
No, and here's why. I live across the street from a really old cemetery, and not just any really old cemetery. The guy who used to live adjacent to it (right before we moved into our house) moved a bunch of the headstones around so he could have a bigger backyard. The church that had all the records burned down (not in that order, I think the church burned first). ANYWAY, I'm thinking that if anything is going to piss off spirits, it'd be that their tombstones were moved and now nobody knows who's buried where. However, the guy who lives in that house now is super nice and put a fence around the actual cemetery so that nobody can use that as part of their yard again. I've never seen a ghost or anything resembling one in that cemetery. However, there is a Revolutionary War hero guy buried over there. That's pretty cool :) I think the most recent stones are from the mid-1800's. And that, my friends, is why I always want to live by a cemetery.

29. Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
sew, duh.

30. Do you swear alot?
More than I should.

31. Biggest pet peeve?
idiot drivers. There should only be one car on the road, and that's mine.

32. In one word, how would you describe yourself?
sleepy

33. Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you?
I think I just did

Sucked Right In

I got sucked into watching Requiem for a Murder (what can I say...I saw Molly Ringwald on the guide). There's so much cheese in this movie it could come in a bowl at O'Charley's. Bleh. 20 more minutes and then we can watch cartoons.

I feel like we were busy all day and didn't get much done. I had communion duty this morning (aka being at church at 7am), then we went to the 8:00 service, then brunch and Lowe's. Came home and worked on cool ties (finished 55 yesterday, have another ~75 in process), then cleaned up the backyard. Mostly this consisted of raking leaves off of the patio into the yard and then watching them blow into the neighbor's yard. Yeah, I know. We'll have to clean that up later.

Anyway, I was perusing the patio furniture and wishing I had something different when it occurred to me that I probably just need new cushions. Somehow I think that plan won't be any cheaper, but we'll see. At any rate, once that little detail is taken care of, the patio will be ready for action.

If this movie gets any worse I'm really going to have to think about changing the channel. LOL Oh well, at least the music's decent.

Okay, ATHF coming on. Finally!
