I learned something new today and now I can't turn my brain off. (shut up)
I made a fabric postcard, and it was so easy! I have all these ideas now, I need to get them down before I forget them.
One of the ones I made today is a get well soon card for a friend of my mom's. I stitch and flipped bright purples, hot pinks, vibrant yellows and wild orange around a gerbera daisy print. Then I wavy quilted each seam, and zigzagged the edges. I need to scan it so you can all see what I'm talking about, and then get addicted just like me. :P I'm seeing a use for all of those "too big to quilt with" prints in my stash, and I now have more fabrics to shop for! Yay! It's a win-win! Heh.
Anyway, I was thinking that I could use ribbons for embellishments, sequins, buttons, yarn, feathers ((!) this would be really cool for bird prints), the possibilities are endless.
The other one I made today was one I can use for valentine's day next year (okay, I got a little carried, but I found the fat 1/4 and knew right away what I was going to do with it). You might all be getting special cards from me! :)
I also finished up the puzzle quilt today, and it turned out really cute if I do say so myself. I used a lot of hot air balloon prints, with really bright, fun solids. I indicated "missing pieces" of the puzzle with solid black, which sets off the whole quilt and really makes it look like a puzzle. Right now it just has one border, and you all probably know me well enough by now to know that I always like 2 borders, but I think I'm going to leave it the way it is. I think the Linus group is going to love it. :)
Ok, entirely too many :)'s today...sorry. :)
This has been a really restful weekend for me. I don't think I realized how wiped out I was after being so sick for 6 weeks at Christmas. I think another retreat might be in the works for this fall, I can't wait! And I'm still looking forward to going home tomorrow (but not the packing/unpacking, yeesh!) and setting up shop again in the studio. I have fresh ideas, another new project (a 30's turning twenty project that I think is going to go to Juarez eventually) and renewed enthusiasm for my favorite hobby. What more can a girl ask for?
