Ahem...I have an Announcement

I'm getting a new sewing machine!!!

I picked up a Pennywinkle Ranch quilting frame last week, and my little Janome just isn't going to cut it. Yesterday I ordered a Juki TL98Q, it should be here by early next week. Woohoo! I sweated whether or not to get the Q or the QE, but decided the extra features on the Q would be worth it. I ended up working in a free extended 2year warranty on it (parts AND labor). Go me! I also went ahead and ordered the handi-handles with the speed control, on the advice of the lovely Vickie from the Pennywinkle group. They were a huge help in my decision.

It appears that Sewing World is down for good. I read somewhere that they were hacked, and I guess the owners were tired of dealing with problems and didn't want to upgrade to safer software. Anyway, I'm now hanging out at the Stitchers' Guild. It's not exactly the same people, but my favorites are there. :)

Latest projects: still working on hats/scarves/mittens for Feitshans. We're meeting on the 21st, if you're local and want to help, please let me know and I'll get you details. I'm still a little disconcerted that when the newsletter went out that I was listed as the main contact for that project, I don't want to be in charge! :) We'll probably go from 9-2, I have all the fabric and will be picking up thread next Friday.

Once I've gone through that fleece, I want to get started on some new quilts. Obviously I'll be able to do my own quilting, and I have some really cute ideas for the chicken quilt. The green/pink quilt still sits untouched, I really hate it and don't relish the thought of finishing it, but will make myself. I don't even feel inspired towards any designs I'd like to use. After the chicken quilt is done, that one is definitely next. The Christmas quilt will be outline quilted, I think. The block designs are so pretty, I almost hate to clutter them up.

I went ahead and signed up for 2 more blocks of the month at Calico Heart. They start this month, one is a blue/yellow and the other is an asian print. Both are going to be gorgeous, and I already know my mom wants the blue/yellow. I can't keep anything!

The shop hop starts up this Friday, I cannot wait! I got a new cable for my gps since I was having trouble with the old one, and I'll spend the next couple of nights planning my route. I think this Friday is the day I'll work my way up to Bloomington and on up to Washington. If you want to get together anywhere on my way, let me know and we can do lunch or something. I'm hoping to be able to have some extra time for shopping in B'ton on my way back.

Work is still going, the Russian is still working on the playhouse but hopes to be done soon. You guys should see the little door he's made, it's so cool! Just like a little gothic church door. He wanted to write Latin phrases on the inside pertaining to the Crusades, but I talked him out of that!

In other news, my mom's oldest sister's husband is in the hospital. Please pray for him, he's had a really rough time of it.
