Yeah, so I'm late for a new year's post. And I missed the Christmas one, too. I'm aware. I took the week off in-between Christmas and New Year's. Not that I accomplished anything really profound.
Going to my mom's for the weekend. We need to work on the turbans for the chemo project, and it's my turn to go there.
I got some good gifts for Christmas (not that that's what it's all about, it's just that this year turned out to be extra-good in the gift department for us): Viking Designer 1 (in August, but that was for my bday and Christmas), new laptop (hoping that Carl would forget that about the sewing machine), Jeep Wrangler (thanks mom!) and new family room carpet (thanks again mom!). Carl got a shopsmith that he's been lusting after for a long time.
I think Alice is going with me to mom's this weekend. Tomorrow will be her 2nd birthday with us. We picked her up from the pound 2 years ago, and she stunk, MAN did she stink! She'd been spayed and they didn't give her a bath first, and I couldn't give her one for a week. We cheated on that a little bit, she smelled so bad! Over the last year she's really come into her own, though, after a rough start the first year. She's definitely my dog. But she needs to stop eating my glasses. 2nd pair of new ones again.
Listening to: Enigma, Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi. Yeah, I know, I know. but I used to listen to this all the time when I worked on the boats. I'd go sit out on the helipad and watercolor paint after work. It was really relaxing and I didn't know any better about the music. Funny how those sounds can bring back a whole range of sensations. I can almost smell the sea.
Drinking: nothing. I should be drinking water.
Reading: again, nothing. Thinking about cracking into another Tom Robbins book, but can't decide between re-reading Jitterbug Perfume or starting Wild Ducks Flying Backward. At any rate, I highly recommend him. Even Carl appreciated Still Life with Woodpecker.
Okay, I think you're all caught up. Gotta pack.
